This year is a monumental year for our Anne Arundel County-based fence and deck installation company. Not only are we excited to open back up our indoor showrooms and resume normal design consultations after a year of pandemic precautions, but we are thrilled to be celebrating our 30th year in business!
Last week, we opened our Millersville doors (and parking lot) to our employees, customers, and the community for a celebration paired with tasty food from the Truck of Deliciousness, craft beer from our friends at Crooked Crab Brewing, and live music from Brandt Dunn. All attendees were entered into a drawing for several raffle prizes, including a skillet top grill, bistro sets, deck storage boxes, and Crooked Crab gift cards! In addition to recognizing our 30th year, we also held a belated Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the remodel of our Millersville indoor showroom and the completion of our pole barn, which was constructed in 2019.
During the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, Owner Jim Rubbish spoke on our humble beginnings and the journey of our success, paved the way by our incredible employees and Maryland customers. Fence & Deck Connection was founded in 1991 by Jim and Ben Wolod, with a focus on commercial work and highway fencing. By 1999, our small company had grown and expanded into the residential market — moving our operation to our current Millersville location, which was once an old, abandoned gas station. Now, three decades later armed with a team of 125 amazing employees, Fence & Deck Connection is proud to have completed more than 54,000 installations of decks, fences, railings screened porches and screened gazebos for our residential and commercial clients.
We were awarded several citations (good ones!) by county officials before our entire team joined our owners and managing partners on the showroom deck to partake in the official ribbon cutting using oversized scissors! Officials in attendance included:
- Liz Hostetler: Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director
- Liz League: CEO of the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce
- Mark Kleinschmidt: CEO of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce
- Reece Peek: Legislative Aide on Behalf of Steuart Pittman
- Amanda Fiedler: County Councilwoman on behalf of the entire County Council
- Senator Ed Reilly
- Delegate: Michael Malone
- Delegate: Heather Bagnall
- Delegate Sid Saab
- Anita Dewling: Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation
We are so honored and express our sincere gratitude to all those that took the time out of their busy weekday schedules to help us celebrate this incredible milestone for the Fence & Deck Connection family. Cheers to 30 years, and here’s to 30 more!
