Our customers in Millersville loved their outdoor space, which was often used for grilling, relaxing, entertaining, and was home to several of their beloved plants. However, the wooden deck and pergola were in desperate need of a facelift — the wood was warping, splintering, and the old coat of paint was nearly non-existent.
Joel Lewis, a Fence & Deck Connection Project Consultant, met with homeowners during their free onsite estimate appointment to discuss design, layout, and color options for their brand new deck. The decision was made to replace the deck with composite material, which requires far less maintenance and will last for years to come.
Before:
Once our customer removed and hauled away the existing decking and patio, our crews were able to get to work to install 292 sq. ft. of new framing and Trex Select composite decking in Pebble Gray. Pebble Grey is a light heather grey with an easy-to-maintain, wood-like grain pattern — a modern, clean look against the white siding of the home. Trex Select decking is made of affordable high-performance composite; won’t rot, warp or splinter, and cleans easily with soap and water.
White vinyl fascia wraps the deck the deck and the bottom wrap around step. A new white vinyl pergola replaces the old wooden pergola, with two 8′ square columns for an elegant touch. Pergolas are a great way to extend your living space and can increase the amount of time you spend outside on warm, sunny days in the middle of a Maryland summer. Designed and oriented correctly on your deck, a pergola can provide plenty of shade for dinner parties, book reading, or a “work from home” office location. You may also install additional covers, for even more sun protection or in preparation for unpredictable summer storms, such as fabric or a retractable cover.
After:
The updated deck is modern, accents the home nicely, and completely brightens up the outdoor space. If your own deck needs a bit of a makeover, head over to our website to fill out a short contact form. You never know, your space might be featured in a future “Makeover Monday” blog!
