Homes constructed in newer subdivisions or communities are often built without back decks or patios. While some homeowners decide to immediately get their deck project started, others often create temporary solutions until the time is right or budget allows. When Pasadena homeowners reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to replace their wooden back steps with a proper outdoor space, Project Consultant Jeff Gottleib helped design a beautiful deck that extends their living space and complements the home’s exterior.

We first constructed a 279 sq. t. pressure treated wood frame to support beautiful composite Trex Select Pebble Gray decking using hidden fasteners with a matching seam board. Pebble Grey is a light heather grey with an easy-to-maintain, wood-like grain pattern and it offers a night slightly darker gray contrast compared to the siding of the home.
Trex Select decking stands up to both weather and weekend mishaps alike, thanks to its high-performance shell. It resists stains and mold better than traditional composites. Trex Select decking also uses 95% recycled plastic and reclaimed wood, and is backed by Trex’s incredible 25-Year Limited Residential Fade & Stain Warranty.
White vinyl railing with black round balusters enclose the new space and one set of 8′ steps lead down to the grassy backyard. We trimmed the fascia of the deck and sides of steps with white PVC and enclosed the bottom of the deck with white vinyl access accompanied by one access gate. The new look is a huge improvement from the simple wooden steps off the patio door, and the sitting area can be relocated to the deck instead of the lawn!
