We often showcase deck makeovers where homeowners decide to switch from wood decking to more maintenance-friendly composite decking. This week, however, we’re featuring a project out of Ellicott City where clients desired transforming their current composite deck into a much larger space. Project Consultant Andrew Vidulich worked with our Howard County customers to help design a beautiful new deck using Trex composite decking with all the bells and whistles, including a lighting package to set the perfect ambiance for late night hot tubbing. Take a look at the stunning transformation below!
Before:
Homeowners chose to demo and haul away the existing deck themselves, before our crews got to work building a beautifully spacious new deck consisting of a main deck and a smaller lower deck for the use of a hot tub installed at a later date. We then adorned the new structure with 782 sq. ft. of Trex Enhance Naturals decking in Coastal Bluff, a beautiful true brown color. Coastal Bluff is a medley of earthy taupe hues, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. Coastal Bluff feature and seam boards add, as well as color matching screws offer a clean, polished look.
White vinyl Lincoln-style railings with black aluminum balusters enclose the new spacious deck, and a 2×4″ cap rail in Lava Rock, a lovely reddish-brown hue, adds an accenting decorative touch. White vinyl fascia wraps the perimeter of the deck and Saturn Anello post cap lights, along with white Pyxis riser lights on every other step ensure the space can be enjoyed at nighttime. The deck’s lower level was built to support a brand new hot tub and the addition of white vinyl fence panels provides a bit of privacy for gatherings.
