Coconut Husk Composite Deck in Arnold, MD: Makeover Monday

This week’s Makeover Monday is a TimberTech deck makeover out of Arnold, Maryland. TimberTech composite decking is an excellent replacement option for older wood decks due to its exceptional durability and low maintenance requirements. Made from sustainable materials, it offers superior resistance to rot, insects, and moisture, reducing the need for frequent repairs or treatments. Its consistent aesthetic appeal mimics natural wood while being more resistant to weather-related issues like warping and fading. Additionally, it provides a slip-resistant surface for enhanced safety and is easier to install compared to traditional wood decking, ultimately offering a cost-effective, eco-friendly solution for homeowners.

Take a look at the beautiful transformation below, led by Project Consultant Tracy Ours and Project Manager John Kilchenstein:

Before:

We first removed the existing deck and rotten rim board of the house and hauled away the materials. We then installed a new deck using TimberTech Edge Prime+ composite decking in the stunning Coconut Husk hue. Coconut Husk is a a bright, sunny tan color with dark and light golden tones to create an authentic light wood visual. This color is a beautiful alternative to natural wood decking and in general, the Prime+ collection features subtle color blending and a rift- and quarter-sawn straight grain pattern with lighter weight scalloped profile premium polymer capped composite boards.

To complement the light golden tones, the new space was adorned with tan textured vinyl fascia and tan Washington-style vinyl railings. Like the original deck, we installed two new sets of picture-framed stairs to grade. Additionally, we installed a picture-framed box step at the backdoor entrance point.
