New Trex Deck on Maryland’s Eastern Shore: Makeover Monday

Homeowners in Chester, Maryland contacted Fence & Deck Connection looking for a bit of an outdoor makeover. Jeff Gottleib, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s experienced Sales Consultants worked with our clients to transform their outdoor space into one that requires far less maintenance and allows for maximum enjoyment! Trex composite decking is resistant to warping, rotting, staining, or fading. Plus, its quality low-maintenance material makes it easy to clean with just soap and water!

BEFORE: ROTTING WOODEN DECK

We first removed hauled away the existing deck before constructing a new 27′ x 14′ pressure treated wood frame. The new structure supports 378 sq. ft. of Trex Enhance composite decking in the Rocky Harbor hue. A contemporary changing neutral, Rocky Harbor adds sandy undertones to a rustic slate grey, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. This hue belongs to Trex’s Enhance collection, which offers an authentic wood-grain appearance with the durability of composite and the affordability of wood. Enhance decking boards are scalloped, making them as lightweight as lumber—without the extra work. This long-lasting decking requires little upkeep and comes in seven colors.

We placed a matching Rocky Harbor seam board down the center of the deck, as well as a matching “picture frame” around the deck’s perimeter. To enclose the new space, we installed white vinyl railing with black round balusters with one set of 4′ wide steps leading down to the backyard. Unlike the original deck’s lattice skirting, homeowners designed their new deck with an open bottom without any lattice.
