Homeowners often opt for wood decks due to their classic, timeless charm. However, composite decking has become an increasingly popular decking material choice for our Maryland clients in the last several years. Though it doesn’t boast the “natural” benefit of a wood deck, there are several color options and textures to choose from that are aesthetically pleasing.
One of the greatest benefits for composite decking is that it requires less maintenance and upkeep. As opposed to wood decking, composite decks are more resistant to weather, pests, mold, and other natural sources of decay and color fading. Additionally, the material doesn’t rot, crack, splinter, or deteriorate with time.
Project Consultant Steve Nehus worked with our Catonsville clients to design a new TimberTech deck that modernizes and brightens up the backyard space.

We removed and hauled away the existing wood deck before constructing a new structure to support 382 sq. ft. of TimberTech Reserve composite decking secured using hidden fasteners. The Dark Roast color is the perfect deck option for homeowners looking to add a classic wood feel to their outdoor space. With a duo-tone matte finish, the Dark Roast hue provides a beautiful blend of natural, traditional beauty with an elegant modern twist. Unlike other deck board in the TimberTech collection, this color has been produced with an antique brushed finish bringing out a deeper, more visible grain.
A grill bump out provides a nice spot for your grill so homeowners will have more designated space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.White Washington-style railings with black aluminum round balusters enclose the space. All beams are wrapped in white PVC fascia, and all posts are wrapped in white vinyl sleeves. The deck is also wrapped with white PVC fascia with mitered corners and capped with Cortex plugs for an extremely clean and finished look.
