For this week’s Makeover Monday, we’re featuring a beautiful deck makeover in Anne Arundel County – just one of the many of the areas we service in the state of Maryland! Jeff Gottleib, one of our experienced Project Consultants, met with homeowners in Pasadena, Maryland to upgrade their outdated wood deck with modern, composite materials that beautifully update and accent the home’s exterior.
Before:
We first demoed and hauled away the existing deck, before constructing two new pressure treated wood frames — one 20′ x 10′ 6″ section and another 9’4″ x 8′ section. Together, the new space supports 287 sq. ft. of Trex Enhance Saddle decking.
Enhance decking offers an authentic wood-grain appearance with the durability of composite and the affordability of wood. Enhance decking boards are scalloped, making them as lightweight as lumber—without the extra work. This long-lasting decking requires little upkeep and comes in seven colors. Saddle, used with this Anne Arundel County deck, is an easy-to-match, beautiful shade of medium brown, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern.
White vinyl Washington-style railings with black round balusters safely enclose the new space, and one set of 4′ wide steps lead down to the yard. White PVC fascia trims the deck and sides of the steps for a clean finish.
For a traditional look, we enclosed the bottom of the deck with white vinyl lattice, with one access gate. A lattice skirt enclosure conceals the deck framing, also allowing air to circulate under the porch floor, which keeps the framing dry and free of rot. It also keeps larger pests from getting under the deck or house.
If you’re interested in switching from a wood deck to a composite deck, Trex may be the right solution for you!
