This week, we’re proud to feature a beautiful project out of Ellicott City, Maryland. Project Consultant Jake Wolod worked with the clients to transform the look of their back deck, as well as expand the space. With the completed makeover, as seen below in pictures, our customers now have an incredible, updated spot for outdoor relaxation and entertainment!
Before:
Our fast working and talented crews first removed and hauled away the existing wood deck, before building a new structure, comprised of two distinct sections. We then installed approximately 432 sq. ft. of TimberTech Reserve composite decking in the the Driftwood color. The vivid and elegant blend of colors of the PRO Reserve Collection are inspired by reclaimed wood, and the heavy wire-brushed, low-gloss finish showcases the classic cathedral wood grain pattern.
The deck extension off the main decking area is completely covered by a 16′ x12′ white vinyl pergola with cross pickets. This large pergola is a a beautiful deck accessory that serves many purposes! Pergolas are a great way to extend your living space and can increase the amount of time you spend outside on warm, sunny days in the middle of a Maryland summer. Designed and oriented correctly on your deck, a pergola can provide plenty of shade for dinner parties, book reading, or a “work from home” office location. You may also install additional covers, for even more sun protection or in preparation for unpredictable summer storms, such as fabric or a retractable cover. Given the size of the pergola, an afternoon BBQ or evening dinner party will have a lovely shaded area to eat beneath!
White vinyl railing with black aluminum spindles safely enclose the space, and are a great match to the light grey deck boards. White diagonal lattice closes the underside of the deck beautifully, and two steps lead down to the backyard. For a clean, finished look, the deck is wrapped with white textured fascia.
After:
The updated deck is modern, requires less maintenance, and completely brightens up the outdoor space. If your own deck needs a bit of a makeover, head over to our website to fill out a short contact form. You never know, your space might be featured in a future “Makeover Monday” blog!
