Many townhome or condo communities require the installation of a new or replacement deck based on HOA regulations. At Fence & Deck Connection, our knowledgeable Project Consultants are able to work with homeowners to design a deck that fits within those rules and regulations, while adding design elements and accessories that personalize the outdoor space. For our customers in Pikesville, Project Steve Nehus helped to replace their outdated wooden deck with a more modern design that creates privacy and uses maintenance-friendly composite materials.
Before:
We first removed the existing wooden deck, and constructed a new frame to support 381 sq. ft. of Trex Transcend composite decking using hidden fasteners. Our Baltimore County homeowners chose the stunning Havana Gold deck boards — a warm brown color with a blend of caramel and honey hues that mimics tropical teak with its true-to-nature vibrancy and realistic grain pattern. Unlike the previous wood deck, this low-maintenance material cleans easily with soap and water, and its protective outer shell resists fading, stains and scratches — no sanding or painting required ever again. It’s also incredibly durable, and won’t rot, warp, or splinter.
White vinyl Lincoln-style railing with black aluminum balusters secures the second story space, and a 4″ Havana Gold cap rail offers a nice upgrade and accent to the perimeter. We also installed 5′ tall Tongue and Groove privacy panels with a 1′ lattice topper along both sides of the deck. The additional lighting system includes white Venus post cap lights for standard rail posts, and white Nebula eyeball lights placed on the privacy panels. With townhomes being close together, outdoor privacy is a coveted commodity, and these privacy panels are a great addition for daytime entertaining or nighttime gatherings!
Last but not least, the deck and all posts are wrapped with white vinyl fascia for a clean, finished look!
