A new deck can completely transform the overall appearance of your home and backyard. Looking for a bit of a refresh with superior craftsmanship and long-lasting composite decking, homeowners in Glen Burnie reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to design their outdoor space. Additionally, they wanted to keep the existing footprint of the deck, complete with a designated grilling nook. Project Consultant Brian Hannon worked with our clients in Anne Arundel County to install a beautiful new composite deck that brightens up the home’s exterior. Take a look at the transformation below!
Before:
We first removed and hauled away the existing wood deck before building new 16′ x 12′ structure with a 2′ x 7′ grill bump out. A grill bumpout on the deck is a practical amenity because it means your grill won’t take up valuable floor space. Without a designated space for grilling and preparing food, a grill ends up being in the way of guests and impedes the flow of traffic. When choosing the right location on your deck, you’ll want to make sure your grill is at least 10 feet away from any buildings or other structures.
The new deck was installed using Trex Enhance composite decking in the Rocky Harbor color. A contemporary changing neutral, Rocky Harbor adds sandy undertones to a rustic slate grey, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. This hue belongs to Trex’s Enhance collection, which offers an authentic wood-grain appearance with the durability of composite and the affordability of wood. Enhance decking boards are scalloped, making them as lightweight as lumber—without the extra work. This long-lasting decking requires little upkeep and comes in seven colors.
White vinyl Washington-style railing with black round aluminum balusters enclose the new space, and one set of 5 steps with a picture frame finish complete the new project.
