Complementary colors that mimic the hues found in nature are often popular for composite decks. Earthy tones such as browns and grays create a visually appealing and harmonious outdoor space. Composite materials can often emulate the appearance of wood in these natural tones. Using complementary colors to create contrast can be visually striking. For example, pairing a deep brown with a lighter tan or gray can highlight architectural features or specific areas of the deck. Accents like railings, trim, or furniture in a contrasting color can add interest.
Homeowners in Montgomery County reached out to Fence & Deck Connection with the desire to brighten up their outdoor space by replacing their wooden deck with more maintenance-friendly composite materials. Project Consultant David King helped design a new deck with complementary colors that provides a stunning backdrop to outdoor rest, relaxation, and entertaining. Take a look at the details and “Before and After” photos of this Trex deck in Montgomery County below!
Before:
We first removed the existing wood deck and frame, before then installed a 360 sq. ft. deck using Trex Tiki Torch decking. Trex Tiki Torch color is known for its warm and tropical aesthetic, with a warm, medium brown hue with subtle hints of red and orange. One of the advantages of Trex composite decking is its resistance to fading, staining, and mold. Tiki Torch, like other Trex colors, is engineered to withstand the elements, making maintenance relatively easy compared to traditional wood decks. Like many Trex composite decking colors, Tiki Torch is designed to mimic the appearance of natural wood while offering the durability and low maintenance of composite materials. This can provide a timeless and classic look to your deck.
Lava Rock, a lovely reddish-brown board offered by Trex, was used as a contrasting, but complementary color on the feature boards and seam boards. White vinyl Lincoln-style railing with white vinyl rail posts and round black aluminum balusters enclose the deck area. By utilizing the complementary color once more, a Lava Rock cocktail rail, or cap rail, provides a beautiful contrast design detail to the deck and stair railing. White vinyl beam wraps and post sleeves offer a clean, finished look, and a white grab rail on both sides of the staircase provides extra safety and stability for guests.
