When our amazing clients in Severn, Maryland contacted us to resurface an existing wooden deck with composite material, we were up to the challenge of transforming this beautiful outdoor space into something special.
The existing wooden deck was quite worn and was cracked and splintering. Composite decking is a great maintenance free options for Maryland residents. This material that has a wood-like appearance is more resistant to weather, pests, mold, and other natural sources of decay and color fading than natural wood. It’s certainly easier to clean than standard wood decking — no need for yearly power washing, sanding and staining!
BEFORE
Brian Hannon, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s experienced Project Consultant’s met with our clients to dream up the new and improved deck that overlooks their outdoor pool. In addition to the new surfacing, we also provided a new frame to replace the existing deck, which we determined was necessary to complete the project. Once the materials, color options, and overall design layout were chosen, the plans were drafted up by our skilled team and we were ready to get started!
To make this new outdoor space a reality, we installed 520 sq. feet of TimberTech Reserve “Antique Leather” decking with hidden fasteners. A TimberTech Reserve “Dark Roast” feature board can be found on 2 seams, in addition to wrapping around the deck, as well as against the house. Feature boards add interest and really help to make the surface “pop.” The deck’s perimeter is wrapped in textured white vinyl fascia and 1″ white diamond lattice dresses up the the deck’s lower half. 7 steps lead up to the deck’s gate, allowing for pool guests to easily enter and exit the pool area below.
A white vinyl railing accented by a Trex “Spiced Rum” cap rail and hammered bronze aluminum balusters are gorgeous, elegant accents to the Antique Leather decking. Lastly, the new outdoor space is “decked” out with an amazing light package for ultimate nighttime entertainment – 8 Corona riser lights in bronze and 15 Neptune cap lights in white.
AFTER
To complete the project, we also installed 16 feet of matching railing that lead to the basement steps. It’s shocking how a small detail, such as a railing repair, can instantly increase curb appeal and value to your home!
