When mold or algae growth become increasingly visible on your wood deck, it’s a clear sign that the wood is deteriorating, compromising both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mold and algae growth not only make the deck unsightly, but also create slippery and hazardous conditions, posing a safety risk to anyone walking on it. Additionally, allowing mold and algae to persist can speed up rot and decay of the wood, leading to more extensive damage and potentially costly repairs down the line.
Realizing their current deck was in dire need of a replacement, our clients in Cheverly, Maryland reached out to Fence & Deck Connection for our trusted expertise. Project Consultant David King worked with homeowners to design a beautiful new deck using TimberTech composite decking. TimberTech AZEK decking is crafted from composite materials that are highly resistant to rot, decay, and insect damage, ensuring longevity and durability far outlasting traditional wood decks. Making the switch to TimberTech decking not only enhances the aesthetics and functionality of their outdoor space, but also offers a sustainable and low-maintenance solution for many years to come.
Before:
We first removed and hauled away the existing decking, using a temporary support for the existing roof. We then installed a expertly-crafted pressure treated wood frame to support approximately 418 sq. ft. of TimberTech AZEK decking in the American Walnut hue. American Walnut feature and seam boards provide a more sophisticated look on the surface, along with a French White Oak cap rail atop TimberTech matte white composite railing. American Walnut is a deep, cool brown with a range of hues from chocolatey brown to ashy black for a rustic tone that resembles walnut hardwood. As the contrasting but complementary color, French White Oak is a light, organic hue with subtitle shades of oak, warm grays, and tennis that deliver the look of hardwoods prized by European craftsmen.
White vinyl fascia wraps the deck, along with the beams, posts, and roof supports. Unlike their old deck, homeowners chose a lighting package that included 10 matte white AZEK lighted island post caps and an electrical package with 4 outlets on the deck, and one underneath.
