The Fence & Deck Connection team has designed and installed thousands and thousands of beautiful decks over the last three decades. There are some decks projects, however, that make your jaw drop when you stand back and view the end result. This Trex composite deck in Upper Marlboro completed earlier this year was certainly no exception! We’ve been itching to feature this beautiful project for several months and we’re excited to show you all the great details that make up this massive outdoor room.
Christopher Holmes, one of our knowledgeable Project Consultants worked with our clients to design a brand new 1430 sq. ft. deck using Trex Transcend Spiced Rum colored boards, white Washington-style railing, and black aluminum balusters. With composite decking, you won’t need to worry about sanding, staining, or painting – not to mention Transcend decking is resistant to staining, mold, and sun fading! It’s also a great option for homeowners wanting to “go green,” as this material uses 95% recycled composite board.
The entire perimeter of the deck is wrapped in white vinyl fascia, including the drop beams and support posts. Fascia wrap conceals the joists under a deck, creates a polished, finished look, and many times adds a nice visual contrast to the rest of the deck. A DekDrain system was installed underneath 1,366 sq. ft. to create an extremely large usable space below, and Glulam beams were used to eliminate center posts.
Two sets of stairs lead up to the deck on either side, with 13 White Neptune post cap lights and 18 white Phoenix stair lights on every other step. Lighting packages are always a great deck accessory for extra safety, and if you foresee occasional nighttime use. We are so impressed by our client’s use of the space, having several different seating areas – perfect for entertaining. With a large dining table, conversational nooks, an outdoor TV, and space heaters, this Trex deck can be enjoyed all year round in the ever-changing Maryland weather!
