Both decks and patios are great choices for outdoor living. These open-air spaces provide the perfect backdrop for entertaining and relaxing with friends and family while enjoying the outdoors. While patios are often less expensive than a wood or composite deck,While patios are often less expensive than a wood or composite deck, brick or pavers can chip and you’ll need to replace them from time to time. Matching them might be difficult if you don’t have extras on hand. Additionally, if care isn’t taken to compact and level the bed before installation, you might end up with sunken areas or uneven bricks.
Individual paving units have small spaces between them, but as the ground moves, these gaps could expand, and weeds could come up from the ground underneath them. Removing the weeds and replacing the pavers in your patio is a time-consuming process. For homeowners in Pasadena, Maryland, making the switch from patio to composite decking was the ideal choice!
Before:
David King, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s knowledgable Sales Consultants, worked with our customers in Anne Arundel County to transform their backyard patio space into a spacious composite deck. Our crews installed a new 16×16 Trex Select deck in Saddle, a sunny medium brown with an easy-to-maintain, wood-like grain pattern. White vinyl railing, rail posts, and black 3/4 inch round aluminum balusters enclose the new and improved space. Last but not least, 5 steps lead up from the ground to a matching rail gate.
After:
Decks require a larger initial investment but have higher resale value than patios. Not only do they offer a better view, raised decks increase the value of your home and are a great selling point for potential buyers—especially in warmer climates where outdoor living is the norm!
